nipperkin – a unit of measure, about 1/8th of a pint. The origin of the phrase “to have a nip” of something.
no prey, no pay – a phrase indicating the terms on which a pirate ship operated. The sole source of income was through seizing goods or other ships; if no prizes were taken, nobody would receive any money.
orlop – the lowest deck in a ship.
